General Equivalency Diploma (GED):
Through a partnership with the Central Minnesota Adult Basic
Education program, the Zonta Club of St Cloud arranges for eligible
women to take the GED Test battery free of charge. To qualify,
the applicant must be female and have completed all five practice
GED tests and achieved scores of 500 or better on each. Anyone
interested in this program should talk directly to the Central
Minnesota Adult Basic Education program staff.
Non-Traditional Student:
The goal of this scholarship program is to provide
assistance to women who have left the academic environment for a
period of time are are now returning to further their education
and/or develop new skills.
The amount of the scholarship awarded varies (usually around $500), based upon our funding
capabilities, and is paid directly to the school. Applications
are reviewed by a committee and granted based on merit. An
application form
is available for online completion, printing and mailing to the
selection committee. The deadline for submitting applications
this year is March 15, 2012.
Zonta International Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA):
The Young Women in Public Affairs Award honors young
women of age 16 to 19 who demonstrate a commitment to leadership in
public policy, government and volunteer organizations. Women
of any nationality who are living or studying in a Zonta
district/region at the time of application and demonstrate evidence
of the following are eligible to apply:
Active Commitment to volunteerism
Experience in local or student government
Volunteer leadership achievements
Knowledge of Zonta International and it's programs
Advocating in Zonta International's mission of advancing the status of
women worldwide
The local winner's entry ($500 award) is submitted, prior to April 1st, to District Level competition,
which has an award of $1,000. The District Level winner is
forwarded on to International Level competition, which selects 5
International recipients and awards $3,000 to each. The
District Level names are forwarded for consideration prior to May
1st. The District and International recipients are announced
on July 1st.
The deadline for submitting applications to the St Cloud Zonta Club
for 2012 is March 18,2012. The application forms, along with formats

Amelia Earhart Fellowships--
Fellowships (US$10,000 each) are awarded on an annual basis
to women pursuing PhD/doctoral degrees in aerospace-related sciences
and engineering. The financial support provided by the
Fellowships means these talented women can invest in
state-of-the-art computers to conduct their research, purchase
expensive books and resource materials, participate in specialized
studies around the globe, and ultimately achieve their educational
goals. AE Fellows have gone on to become astronauts, aerospace
engineers, astronomers, professors, geologists, business owners,
heads of companies, even the Secretary of the US Air Force.

Applications must be postmarked no later than November 15,
2011 for the 2012 award cycle.
Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship
--These scholarships are awarded annually to women of any nationality pursuing
a business or business related degree who demonstrated outstanding
potential in the field. Online students are also eligible.
The scholarship award
of US$5,000 may be used for tuition, books or living expenses at any
university, college or institution offering accredited business
courses and degrees. Applications must be submitted directly
to the local Zonta club.
